5-hit day for Comeens as Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets skirts past Tanner

Madison Comeens didn't feel much like getting out on Tuesday, April 16, tallying five hits and leading Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets softball team to a 14-4 win over Tanner. Comeens singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, doubled in the sixth, and doubled in the sixth.

Winston County pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Brenna Wakefield drew a walk, scoring one run, Emily Hill singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Kanesha Flanagin doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to doubles by Makayla Lindsey, Wakefield, and Comeens, a single by Flanagin, and by Olivia Wright.

Ally Blackston was in the pitcher's circle for Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity. She surrendered two runs on five hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one.

WCHS totaled 13 hits. Comeens, Lindsey, Hill, and Flanagin all had multiple hits for Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity. Comeens led Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity with five hits in five at bats.
