Lady Lions loses lead early in defeat

Haleyville's Lady Lions watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 13-2 loss to Curry on Tuesday, April 16. Curry scored on a walk by Rae Ann Hall and a walk by Laycee Cordell in the first inning.

The Lady Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Curry, giving up 13 runs.

Curry got things started in the first inning when Hall drew a walk, scoring one run.

Curry scored seven runs in the third inning. Kj Richardson, Karoline Bishop, Alayna Key, and Linley Tubbs all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Alea Freeman led things off in the pitcher's circle for Curry. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and walking one.

Ana Aaron started the game for Lady Lions. She surrendered two runs on zero hits over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one. Anna Lacy Sartin and Molly Gilbert entered the game from the bullpen, throwing five innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Lady Lions totaled seven hits in the game. Hailie Moody, Kaylee Riddle, and Aaron all managed multiple hits for Lady Lions. Aaron, Riddle, and Moody each collected two hits to lead Lady Lions.

Curry tallied 10 hits in the game. Key, Richardson, Tubbs, and Bishop all managed multiple hits for Curry. Key led Curry with three hits in five at bats.
