CURRY - The Haleyville Lady Lions asserted their will over Fayette County on their way to an easy 11-5 victory Monday, April 29, in the 4A Area 11 tournament held at Curry High School. This was the second game for HHS in the tournament.
The Lady Lions got things started in the second inning. An error scored one run for the Lady Lions.
Lady Lions notched four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from triples by Kaylee Riddle and Hailie Moody and a home run by Ana Aaron.
Anna Lacy Sartin took the win for Lady Lions. She lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out four. Molly Gilbert threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Brandy Johnson started the game for Fayette County. She went six innings, allowing 11 runs on 13 hits, striking out three and walking one.
Lady Lions hit two home runs on the day. Aaron went for the long ball in the fourth inning. Moody had a dinger in the third inning.
Lady Lions saw the ball well, racking up 13 hits in the game. Moody and Riddle all collected multiple hits for Lady Lions. Riddle and Moody each collected three hits to lead Lady Lions.
Holley Files went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Fayette County in hits.
