Late score knocks HHS out of area tournament

CURRY - The Haleyville Lady Lions lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat to Curry, at Curry High School in the 4A Area 11 tournament. The game was tied at one with Curry batting in the bottom of the fifth, when Rae Ann Hall singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Curry pitchers struck out zero, while Lady Lions sat down six.
In the first inning, Curry got their offense started when Laycee Cordell singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the second inning, Lady Lions tied things up at one when an error scored one run for Lady Lions.
Alea Freeman toed the rubber for Curry. She allowed five hits and one run over seven innings.
Ana Aaron was on the rubber for Lady Lions. She lasted six innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out six.
Mallory Rushing went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lady Lions in hits. Lady Lions didn't commit a single error in the field. Karley Dozier had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
