HALEYVILLE - Haleyville City Schools has been placed in a very small minority when it comes to Cognia STEM certification.
The system, in fact, has set the standard for other schools in both the state and nation, with this accomplishment of being the first school in the nation to have all of its schools in its district STEM accredited during one evaluation.
After a rigorous evaluation process occurring both on and off campus, HCS wrapped up a week of certification visits by the accreditation team with every school in the district--elementary, middle, high school and center of technology--all being certified as a STEM certified schools. STEM Certification through AdvancED (now known as Cognia, the world’s largest accrediting institution) is a mark of distinction and excellence that provides institutions and programs within institutions with a research-based framework and criteria for awareness, continuous improvement and assessment of the quality, rigor and substance of their STEM educational program.
