HALEYVILLE - In a statement released late Monday afternoon, Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville announced that it is coordinating with the Alabama Department of Public Health on any patient that meets the screening criteria for Coronavirus 2019, also known as COVID-19. The process included initiating and ensuring appropriate monitoring of any patients. At this time, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Alabama.
"We have developed processes to properly screen and isolate individuals who present to our hospital meeting the Centers for Disease Control criteria for the virus. At this time, we have not had any patients that meet the criteria. We urge the members of our community to practice good hygiene and to avoid coming to the hospital to visit patients if they are sick. However, if they experience symptoms that correspond with the CDC criteria for Coronavirus, they should call their health provider immediately or go to the emergency room if symptoms worsen," hospital officials said.
