WINSTON COUNTY - It came as a surprise to many officials in municipal and county government that the remaining $72 million from Alabama’s share of the CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund not distributed as of Dec. 31, 2020, would be reallocated into the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund.

WINSTON COUNTY - Although health officials are stressing the safety of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, which is now being offered in Winston County, some first responders are approaching the vaccine with reservation.
WINSTON COUNTY - The public attending middle school and high school basketball games across the county are being urged to follow safety protocols regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in order for these games to be allowed to continue.

HALEYVILLE - Tommy Gentle has been jokingly referred to for years as the Mayor of Dime Road, voicing strong opinions over various community issues and projects. He now has a new title, one given to him by his family: “Our COVID Miracle”.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - New procedures designed to keep jurors and other participants in the court system in Winston County protected from COVID-19, will go into effect Oct. 26, as jury trials resume, with jury selection moved to the Double Springs Municipal Building.
