HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Public Library will present a summer reading program like no other, and registration begins Monday.
“Tails and Tales” is this year’s summer reading program, which will be presented a bit differently due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our Summer Reading Program will look a little different this year. We may not.be able to have our usual entertaining programs and activities but we are working hard to plan ‘Pawsativly’, ‘Tale-tastic’ activities for the summer.,” Librarian Carla Waldrep said.
Children are welcome to stop by the library weekly to check out books, pick up craft projects and take part in special activities.
“We will have take-and-make crafts, scavenger hunts and reading challenges by age level,” Waldrep said.
Book bucks can be earned by participating in the reading challenges. Children who read a book, then write a blurb about it will receive prizes at the end of the program, with prizes including T-shirts, movie theater passes and more.
Waldrep is so happy to see the summer reading program return, even if it isn’t exactly like it was prior to COVID.
“We’re glad we are going to be able to do something with area children this summer,” Waldrep said.
Registration begins May 17, and the program will continue through July 16. For more information or to register, stop by the library or call (205) 486-7450. The Haleyville Public Library is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
