A portion of County Road 193 in the Pebble Community has washed out due to flooding.
PEBBLE - Motorists need to avoid County Road 193 in the Pebble community near Haleyville if at all possible, due to a portion of the road washing out.
Heavy rains over the past several days have caused Butler Falls Branch to flood, contributing to an approximate 20 foot wide and 15-20 foot deep portion of County Road 193 to crumble away.
The Winston County Road Department has put up barricades around the area and are cautioning motorists not to move them because the remaining portion of the road near the washout is not safe to be driven upon. Work on the road will begin as soon as possible, but the road may need to be closed in the area of the washout for several weeks.
County Road 193 intersects with County Road 93 at Maxwell Chapel United Methodist Church. The name of the road changes to Butler Road as it crosses into Franklin County. The road intersects with Franklin County Highway 6, which runs between Highway 243 and County Road 93.
