PHS loses to Hackleburg in homecoming

BEAR CREEK - Phillips High School's homecoming was not only dampened by the light rain in the area, but also the Hackleburg Panthers, who pulled away in the second half to beat the Bears 38-22.
The mood between the two teams was friendlier and emotional prior to the start of the game when Hackleburg offensive lineman Kade Holcomb and wide receivers Gavin Pyburn and Ethan Heggy presented flowers to homecoming court contestant Emma Taylor in memory of her brother, Kiah, who lost his life in a two-vehicle accident in July.

HACKLEBURG - Hackleburg suffered a 44-16 loss to Class 2A Winston County on Friday, Aug. 23, at Ray Stadium in Hackleburg.
The Panthers trailed 14-8 at halftime before the Yellow Jackets outscored Hackleburg 30-8 in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets struck first with William Owens scoring from four yards out. A failed 2-point try gave Winston County a 6-0 advantage with 4:57 left in the first quarter.

Lady Bears claim 12-2 win over Hackleburg


Breanna Barton took the win from the pitcher’s circle for the Lynn Lady Bears.

LYNN - The Lynn Lady Bears  easily did away with Hackleburg 12-2 on Wednesday, April 24.
The Lady Bears Varsity got things started in the first inning when Breanna Barton grounded out, scoring one run.
LHS scored four runs in the fifth inning. Ashley Aldridge and Gracie Jordan each had RBIs in the frame.
Barton earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Lynn. She went four and a third innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out nine. Chloe Gilliland threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Phillips takes 2 out of 3 in series with Hackleburg

BEAR CREEK  - The Phillips Bears won two out of three game with the Hackleburg Panthers March 11-12.
In game one, Phillips won 9-5 at home. Ken Edwards got the win on the mound. He went three for three, with four stolen bases, as well. Jacob Cagle had two hits, with two RBIs. Wesley Williams had one hit with a RBI. Brady Long got two hits and Logan Cagle had one hit, with Levi Hall one hit and a RBI.
