ALDOT makes changes to Highway 33 project

DOUBLE SPRINGS - After Double Springs officials voiced concerns with the state’s plans to improve a dangerous intersection, the Alabama Department of Transportation paid a visit and agreed to amend the project.

Winston County High School Principal Jeff Cole, right, and School Resource Officer Kent Donaldson have concerns over possible limited visibility, once the project at Highway 33 and County Road 24 is completed. A caution light was installed several years ago, after a traffic study did not warrant a red light, according to state officials.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Although a project by the Alabama Department of Transportation to correct a dangerous intersection at Highway 33 and County Road 24 in Double Springs has now been funded, concerns have been expressed by town officials and law enforcement that the project could cause additional traffic congestion.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - One fiscal year after just over $1 million in funding was announced to correct a dangerous intersection at Highway 33 and County Road 24 in Double Springs, another $400,000 has been awarded for the same project.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - A dangerous traffic issue, where individual, industrial and school bus traffic all converge in the same location certain times of the day, will now be alleviated, thanks to a $1,009,904.50 grant.
