Local UNA students join Phi Kappa Phi
FLORENCE - The following local UNA students were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines:
Tiffany Harbison, of Arley;
Stormy Sides, of Haleyville;
Meaghan Hardy Reed, of Phil Campbell.
They are among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only.

WCHS eliminated from north regionals

FLORENCE - Both teams were strong on the rubber on Monday, May 13, at the Coffee/O’Neal Sports Complex, in Florence, for the north regional softball tournament. But Tharptown was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets. Elle Donaldson started the game for Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets and recorded 18 outs. She lasted six innings, allowing five hits and three runs, while striking out two. WCHS lost despite out-hitting Tharptown seven to five.
