DOUBLE SPRINGS - A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, has claimed the life of a Haleyville man. Matthew K. Riddle, 27, was fatally injured when the 2017 Dodge Ram he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Riddle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near the 44-mile marker, approximately one mile east of Double Springs.
The accident is under investigation by troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The Alabamian was on the scene of the accident last night, and will have a full story in the Wednesday, Nov. 3, edition of the paper.
