Location of funeral services for fire victims has changed

HALEYVILLE - The location for the upcoming funeral services for the mother and her two children killed in a house fire early Monday, Jan. 3, has been changed, according to Winston County Coroner Tracey Holley.

Funeral services for Cara Louise Evans, 44, and children, Annabelle Louise Evans, 8, and Jacob Richard Evans, 4, all of 2915 11th Avenue, will be handled by Nichols Funeral Home, Holley stated. The coroner contacted the Alabamian around midday Thursday, Jan. 6, and informed that she had received word shortly before that the funeral services would now be held at Nichols. Funeral arrangements have not been set, but will be announced when available.

Cara and her two children died in a fire that destroyed the family's home on 11th Avenue. Cara's husband, Ricky Evans ,was at work in Russellville when the fire occurred. The cause of the fire was determined to be a natural gas heater in the living room area, according to state officials. The fire has been investigated by the Alabama Fire Marshal's Office working with the Haleyville Fire Marshal's Office.
