Free weather radios to be given away in Double Springs

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The public is urged to come to the Double Springs Municipal Building on Monday, April 11, beginning at 2 p.m. to pick up Midland weather alert radios on a first come, first served basis.

Winston County Emergency Management Director A.J. Brown has announced that Winston County received 241 radios for $6,000, as part of a $30,000 grant from the Resource Conservation and Development Council, providing weather radios at no cost to the public throughout the district.

In attendance at the giveaway will be EMA and RC&D. The public can also have their radios programmed the day of pickup, Brown said. The radios will provide up-to-date weather information and alerts during severe weather.
