Free Fishing Day, when residents and out-of-state visitors can fish for free in most public waters, whether fresh or saltwater, will be Saturday, June 11, during National Fishing and Boating Week, June 4-12. On this day, no fishing license will be required to fish in most public waters in Alabama. However, some piers and state public fishing lakes will still require a permit, and fishing for red snapper will still require a $10 Gulf Reef Fish Endorsement and saltwater angler registration, which is free.
