Assistant principals at HES and HMS swapping places

HALEYVILLE       -  Students at both the Haleyville elementary and middle school campuses will see new faces in the roles of assistant principals for the new school year.
The Haleyville Board of Education during an early morning special-called meeting Friday, May 5, unanimously approved some administrative voluntary transfers, with elementary assistant principal Emily Faulkner being moved to the role of middle school assistant principal.
Middle School Assistant Principal Dr. Elyse Aldridge was  transferred to the role of elementary assistant principal, each effective June 1.
The other voluntary transfer approved at the special-called meeting was Lindsay Kilpatrick, from elementary school teacher to family and consumer science teacher at the center of technology, effective July 1.
“We did a swap with our assistant principals at the elementary school and middle school,” began Haleyville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Holly Sutherland. “We believe in growing leaders, and Mrs. Faulkner had been in the high school and the elementary school. This gives her an opportunity to be in the middle school.
“Dr. Aldridge had been at the high school and middle school, and this gives her an opportunity to be  in the elementary school,” Sutherland added.
“With the new literacy act and numeracy act, and all of those elementary and the middle school requirements, it helps us grow our leaders even stronger and builds their tool boxes,” Sutherland continued.
Sutherland stressed that these transfers were voluntary, with both Faulkner and Aldridge ready to try new experiences as administrators in different settings and to, “grow their leadership potential by having experience in all three buildings.”
At the same time, school officials are looking at adding a third administrative position to the elementary school, with a new assistant principal to work with Aldridge as well as Principal Tammy Hatton.
