Betty Thomas Lester Cummings, 83, of Florence, formerly of Haleyville, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Lester (Debbie) and Jon Lester (Tonya); granddaughters, Amy Lester-Parks, Kelley Lester, Haley Lester and Kaylee Lester; great-grandson, Blake Parks; sisters, Reba Lawler, Carolyn Thomas and Judy Thomas; brothers-in-law, George Lester (Jannie) and Jerry Lester (Sandra); sister-in-law, Bobbie June Garrett and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband; Junior Lester; husband; Odie Cummings; son, Jeff Lester; parents, Virgil and Myrtie Mae Thomas; in-laws, Ralph and Myrtle Lester; brother, Lecil Thomas; sister-in-law; Tommie Jane Thomas; brother-in-law, Delton Lawler; brother-in-law, Wilton T. Wallace; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wallace and brother-in-law, Charles Garrett.
Her service will be at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville on Saturday, June 10, 2023, with visitation from 12-2 p.m. and her service at 2 p.m.. Burial will follow at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, 1847 Co Rd 23, Haleyville, AL 35565. Pallbearers will be Bret Thacker, Charles Lawler, Dustin Lawler, Jorge Lopez, Ricky Thomas and Roger Thomas.
Betty was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank the heroes that work at Glenwood Healthcare Center of Florence. They became like family to her and treated her with the utmost kindness and loving care.
