HALEYVILLE - During the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 29, three individuals are believed to have arrived at Major’s Drugs on Highway 13 in a silver Chrysler vehicle, according to Police Chief Rodney Lewis. Two of the individuals got out of the vehicle and forced entry to the pharmacy through the front glass door while the third individual remained in the vehicle.
Inside, Lewis said, a cardboard box containing trash was overturned and then possibly used to hold a undetermined amount of controlled substances the individuals took from the pharmacy area.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on Hoggle Ridge Road, Lewis said. Canine units were brought in from the state to assist local agencies in searching a ten-mile radius for the individuals, he noted, but nobody was located. However, authorities found clothing in the area that indicated they had changed or removed their clothes, Lewis said.
Anyone who sees any suspicious persons in the area or has any information about this break-in is urged to call Haleyville dispatch at (205) 486-5201.
