Community health fair Monday at Lakeland

HALEYVILLE - The Equity Advisory Councils are partnering with Lakeland Community Hospital to present a community health fair Monday, Jan. 15, from 1-4 p.m. at Lakeland Community Hospital and within its facilities.
Numerous area health care partners and other social service groups will be in attendance, including the Haleyville Senior Center, Revive Medical Center, Family Medical Associates, NAMC Specialty Clinic, Mar-Win Mental Health, The Upper Room, Haleyville AA, Winston County DHR,  the American Red Cross bloodmobile, Pregnancy Testing Resource Center, Lakeland Senior Care, Haleyville Pediatrics, Lakeland Family Practice, Northwest Home Health and Haleyville Center of Technology Health Care Students.
In June, the City of Haleyville was selected as one of  20 Alabama communities to receive an Equitable Neighborhoods Initiative (ENI) grant.  The grant is funded through the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the Alabama Department of Public Health.  The University of Alabama Department of Economic Development  assists with the grant and provides professional services to aid in the completion of the grant requirements.
ENI’s purpose is to equip neighbors and community partners with the necessary information to address COVID-19 issues, as well as to establish infrastructure and capacity to deal with future challenges related to health and quality of life challenges, while connecting neighborhoods to resources to improve health equity.
Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service (MLK Day) is the only federal holiday that is also designated by Congress as a National Day of Service – a “day on, not a day off.”
In keeping with this National Day of Service, January 15th, ENI Advisory councils have decided to partner with Lakeland Community Hospital and hold a Health Fair at Lakeland's facilities.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to come out and connect with various health care agencies that provide services in our community,”  Haleyville Community Liaison Neina Middleton said.
