DOUBLE SPRINGS- All Winston County offices remain closed Friday, January 19, after a week of closures due to weather, announced Commissioner David Cummings. Plans are to reopen offices on Monday, January 22, with an emergency commission meeting set 9:45 am, at the courthouse, Cummings added.
Winston County Sheriff's officials have been working with local fire departments, ALEA troopers, and municipal law enforcement agencies this week helping motorists either stranded or having minor accidents due to icy roadways, according to Sheriff's Investigator Jacob Eward.
All county roads continued to be deemed impassable into Friday due to isolated icy spots that did not melt despite rain on Thursday.
