Mary Abagail "Abby" Sutherland Baugus, of Phil Campbell, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt after a short battle with leukemia.
Abby was born October 22, 2002 at Russellville Hospital. Abby lived a full life. She enjoyed reading, writing, drawing, painting, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Most of all, she enjoyed spreading the Word of her Lord and Savior.
Abby was the children's pastor at CrossWay Church of Haleyville. Ministry was her passion. Abby loved spending time with the children, teaching them the Word of God in unconventional ways. She loved to dress up and plan projects. Vacation Bible School was her favorite time of the year.
Abby was a former employee of both Foster & Foster and Med360 Health Urgent Care, where she made lifelong relationships.
Abby leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Matthew; her mother and father, Tabatha and Andy; brothers Brady, Austin and Christian; sister, Alexis; Nana Carol; grandparents, Allen and Annette and Nana Sherry; mother-in-law, Renee; father-in-law, Michael; sister and brother-in-law Megan and Blake; nephew, Reed; bonus family, Callie, Scott and Nash; aunt and uncle ,Michelle and Eddie; Aunt Regina; a host of cousins and two loving pets, Eevee and Rubee.
Pallbearers will be Brady Sutherland, Austin Marbutt, Christian Marbutt, Nash Collum, Blake Doss and Gabe Sutherland. Honorary pallbearer will be Zane Whitten.
Abby had a kind soul, and she never met a stranger. To know her was to love her.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 6- 9 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. Her funeral will be Friday, February 16, 2024 at noon at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, with her mother, Tabatha, speaking and Pastor Andrew Worley officiating. Burial to follow in Bear Creek Cemetery.
