DOUBLE SPRINGS - Those who enjoyed the movie or the musical "Grease" are in for a treat this Saturday night, March 9, at Looney’s Amphitheater and Cultural Center, located off of Highway 278 just east of Double Springs.
A 1950s greaser-themed interactive murder mystery dinner will take place from 6-9 p.m. at the Lodge, he former Sister Sarah’s restaurant building at the Looney’s complex. Tickets to the event are $56, and can be purchased at www.southernghostgirls.com or through Eventbrite, stated Leslie Hyde, founder of Southern Ghost Girls Tours, sponsor of the event.
A portion of proceeds raised from the event will go toward the Winston County Arts Council to help with ongoing renovations at the Looney’s complex, stated Theresa Snoddy, vice president of the arts council.
In addition, each person who attends the murder mystery dinner will receive a free ticket to the upcoming Tremayne concert at the Dual Destiny indoor theater at Looney's, which will take place Saturday, March 23, at 7 p.m., Snoddy stated.
“Thanks to all who come to our programs,” Snoddy said. “The proceeds will go toward our renovations.”
The Winston County Arts Council owns the Looney’s complex and has been using grant funds, as well as donations for a major renovation project to have the complex suitable for concerts, shows and other events promoting the arts in the area, Snoddy indicated.
Dinner for the murder mystery event will be provided by Chef Troy’s Talk of the Town, according to Hyde.
“Come out and join the 1950s greaser-style murder mystery,” said Hyde. “If you liked the movie "Grease," then you’ll love our 1950s greaser-themed interactive murder mystery dinner event.”
Those who attend the murder mystery dinner will actually be the ones participating in the murder mystery, but attendance, as well as 1950s greaser-themed attire, is only optional, Hyde stressed.
“Please enjoy the meal and entertainment. It’s a deal that can’t be beat,” Hyde added.
