Lacy Lee Clay, 92, of Haleyville, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at his residence.
He was born April 19, 1932 to Ollie Clay and Clara Byrd in Haleyville. Lacy liked to hunt and fish. He never met a stranger. He loved to help people in need and he never wanted to see anyone go hungry. Lacy loved sitting around the table at Jack's with his buddies. He was a truck driver for about 70 years and after retiring, he sold produce.
Visitation will be Monday, June 24, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville where his funeral will be held at 2 p.m., with Brother Greg Reynolds, Brother Sherman Kimbrough and Brother Frank Chaney officiating. Burial will be at Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Lacy is survived by his daughter, Debbie Clay; son, Kenny (Gina) Clay; grandchildren, David Clay, Amanda Clay Hendrix and Mindy Cummings; great-grandchildren, Garrett Clay, Jase Hendrix, Courtney Cummings, Caden Cummings and Kolby Cummings; sister, Leda Avery; 2 sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Aderholt Clay; parents, Ollie Clay and Clara Byrd; brothers, Jack Kelly and Rufus Byrd; sister, Daisy Sutherland and grandmother, Francis Ramey.
