Undefeated Yellow Jackets sting Eagles

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Yellow Jackets remain undefeated after beating the Cold Springs Eagles 28-6 on their own field.

The Eagles scored first, in the first quarter, but the Jackets took the lead, 7-6, in the second quarter when Landon Kelley ran in a 36-yard touchdown and Garrett Lewis' PAT kick was good.

The Jackets scored twice in the third quarter. Chris Clemons received a 51-yard touchdown pass from Kelley, and RaKim Moore made a 9-yard touchdown. The Jackets' PAT and then Brock Yeager's two-point conversion were both successful, putting Winston County ahead 22-6.

In the fourth quarter, Kelley received a 21-yard touchdown pass from Moore to bring the final score to 28-6.

Kelley was 5-of-7 for 155 yards and one touchdown. He also had ten rushes for 111 yards and one touchdown and made 15 tackles. Moore was 1-of-1 for 21 yards and one touchdown and made twelve tackles. Clemons had five catches for 155 yards and one touchdown. Kelley had one catch for 21 yards and one touchdown. Yeager had two carries for 17 yards and one touchdown and made six tackles and one sack. Cameron Aderholt had eleven tackles and two sacks.

This week, the Jackets will be on the road to face the Curry Yellow Jackets. Winston County has beaten Curry the last two times they played, in 2020 and 2021. Curry is 0-5 so far this season.
