Addison business owners angry after sewer project stalls

Johnny and Sherry Porter have held up completing construction of a new business, after having laid the foundation, awaiting on a new sewer line to be installed at a row of businesses off HIghway 278 near the Texaco station in Addison.

ADDISON -  A sewer line installation project - already delayed several months  - has come to a grinding halt after the Addison Town Council voted  at their Monday, Nov. 4, meeting to rescind a resolution for the project and reject all bids.
Mayor Marsha Pigg explained that the bids had come in much higher than the city had budgeted. The two bids the town received came in either double or triple the amount the city had budgeted, the mayor said.
“The bids came in too high and we couldn’t follow through with the project,” Pigg confirmed. “We are sorry it didn’t happen.  We appreciate the businesses being patient with us through this process.”
Pigg informed the council during the meeting that bids for the project had been opened, but were much too high for the town to afford.
“We can’t do it,” Pigg said. “We’ve got to rescind that resolution.”
Making a motion to rescind the resolution was council member Brandon Womack, seconded by Scott Flynn, with all council members voting in favor, including Womack, Flynn, George Palmer, Jordan Lee and Randy Powell.
