Controlled burn spreads to home


First responders outside a home that was damaged by a neighbor's out-of-control controlled burn.

HALEYVILLE - A controlled burn by a neighbor spread out of control Tuesday afternoon, March 11, near the intersection of county highways 85 and 62, destroying a camper trailer used for storage and spreading into the residence of Karen Marchan and children Dereck, 10, and Leah, 7, family members said.

No injuries were reported, but significant fire damage occurred to the dwelling.

Responding to the scene were Haleyville Fire Department, Haleyville Police Department, Bear Creek Fire Department and Regional Paramedical Services.
