NOTICE OF
REVIEW
OF
PROPOSED ABANDONED MINE LAND
RECLAMATION PROJECT
Pursuant to Title IV of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977, 30 U.S.C. 1201 et seq., and the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, the Alabama Department of Workforce (ADOW) in cooperation with the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining, is soliciting public comment on an abandoned mine land reclamation project proposed for Title IV funding during Fiscal Year 2025.
A written description of the Glen Mary Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Project, developed by ADOW, will be available for public review at the Haleyville Public Library until June 12th, 2025.
Upon request made to the person listed under “FOR FURTHER INFORMATION,” persons
may receive, free of charge, single copies of the written description of the project under consideration. Written comments should be limited to the Glen Mary Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Project and include sufficient explanation in support of the commenter’s recommendations. In order to be considered, written comments must be received at the address listed under “FOR FURTHER INFORMATION” on or before June 12th, 2025.
Persons wishing to meet with ADOW representatives to discuss the proposed project may
request such a meeting by contacting the person listed under “FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.” All such meetings are open to the public and, when possible, notices of the meetings are advertised in newspapers of local distribution. A written summary of each public meeting will be made part of the Administrative Record.
