Godsey receives Service and Dedication Award

Beverly Donaldson, treasurer of the Haleyville Alumni Association, presents the Service and Dedication Award to David Godsey at the alumni banquet Saturday, June 2.
HALEYVILLE - It was an emotional moment Saturday, June 2, when David Godsey, of the Haleyville High School Class of 1989, received the Service and Dedication Award presented by the Haleyville Alumni Association. The award, presented by Alumni Association Treasurer Beverly Donaldson during the annual Haleyville Alumni luncheon at the elementary cafetorium, recognizes an alumnus who has gone above and beyond to represent Haleyville City Schools. “This year’s recipient is no exception,” Donaldson said, not yet announcing the name of the recipient. “The person definitely gives back to the students of Haleyville City Schools,” Donaldson added. “He contributes to the future of our schools and community. “He supports all HHS activities, athletics, clubs. You name it, he’s always there,” Donaldson continued. Concerning his job, he encourages students to participate in city league sports. “Anytime our school needs something, he’s only a phone call away,” she said. After graduating from HHS, Godsey attended and graduated from the University of North Alabama with a degree in finance. “He’s worked hard for the Haleyville facilities building for 22 years,” Donaldson noted. “As one person quoted about him, ‘He’s a great example of work ethic and true dedication to our community and school.’” It was a honor and privilege, Donaldson added, to present the Service and Dedication award to one of her former students.
