Collin Hugh Clement, an honorable and wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, left to be with the Lord at the age of 74 on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at his Clear Lake, Texas home. In his honor, a memorial service was held Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Clear Lake Christian School in Houston, Texas. Crowder Funeral Home of Houston directed.
Collin and his wife, Freida, met in high school and were married on June 8, 1962, in Russellville. A graduate of Haleyville High School in 1962, Collin obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama on May 31, 1970.
Collin was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1970-1990 and became a lieutenant colonel. He proudly earned the following medals and ribbons: Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Ribbon, Texas Medal of Merit, Texas Faithful Service and Adjutant General Award. His units of service were the 919th Air Refueling Squadron, Strategic Air Command, 117th Tactical Fighter Wing and 147th Fighter Interceptor Wing. His locations of service were Ellington Field, Thailand and the Panama Canal. During his military service, Collin and his family relocated from Alabama to Florida, New Jersey, South Carolina, Georgia, California and finally made Texas their home.
Both Collin and Frieda made friends everywhere they went. They welcomed and adopted everyone they could into their beautiful family and made a difference in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Icie Clement and brothers Loyce and Glenn Clement.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Freida Jean Clement; his son, Collin Hugh (Yuliya) Clement Jr.; daughter, Angela Rena Clement; grandchild, Alexi Clement and sister, Ava Jean Mize.
Anyone who knew Collin would agree that he was surely one-of-a-kind, disciplined and organized. He had a brilliant personality, was intelligent, fun, a great storyteller and was always willing to share his wisdom and knowledge with others. He will surely be missed and always be in our hearts and in our best memories. We love you, Paw Paw!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nassau Bay Animal Shelter in Collin’s name.
