HALEYVILLE - Christmas by the Lake is returning this holiday season to Haleyville City Lake with some changes, but will remain the family-friendly wonderland of holiday lights that has brought the community together for years.
Sponsored by the Haleyville Fire Department, Christmas by the Lake marks the return of much more than holiday lights reflected by the lake, Haleyville Fire Chief Jeff Postell said.
The process of decorating and preparing the light displays began on November 29, with the holiday light event reopening free of charge to the public beginning Thursday, December 11, and running through Christmas Day, December 25, from 6-9 p.m. nightly, according to Postell.
The public is being advised that Santa Claus will make some appearances at Christmas by the Lake this year, but won’t be there every night, Postell said.
“Santa’s house is only going to be open four nights,” Postell emphasized.
The nights Santa’s house will be open Friday, Dec. 12, Saturday, Dec. 13, Friday, Dec. 19, and Saturday, Dec. 20, Postell advised.
On these four nights, children can go to Santa’s house, get cookies and hot chocolate and visit good Ol’ Saint Nick.
