Jonathan Jay "Jay Bird" Collins, 60, of Addison, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
Jay was born February 9, 1966 to Cecil and Martha Collins. He loved Alabama football and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed playing board games, horseshoes and corn hole.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 6-9 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Addison, where his funeral will be held Friday, May 1, 2026. Mr. Collins will lie in state from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., with his funeral to follow at noon. Burial will be at the adjoining cemetery. Brother Jeff Collins and Brother Cory Owens will officiate. Nichols Funeral Home will direct.
Jay is survived by his son, Dustin (Olivia) Wren; mother, Martha Collins; siblings, James (Anita) Collins, Renee (Johnny) Jones and Renata (Ed) Benefield; nieces and nephews, Josh (Tina) Owens, Michelle (Steve) Gauvin, Cory Owens, Kasey (Jason) Salamanca, Austin Benefield and Catlin (Hunter) Hammonds; a host of great-nieces and nephews and a special friend, Sherry Everett.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Collins; brother, Jerry Collins and grandparents, BF and Etta Collins and Silas and Delia Garrison.
