ARLEY - The upcoming project of installing a separate septic tank system for the Arley Public Library has created a positive ripple effect, with the town saving money, relocating court and the court clerk to the library and relocating the police department in the process.
“It’s a good move all the way around,” Mayor Johnny Taylor pointed out. “It’s better for the court system, the (court) clerk, library. It’s going to take care of a lot of birds with one stone.”
Dana Kulbeth, who has worked the past eight years, will continue to work as court clerk, but will also be assistant librarian, replacing Laurie Moore, whose retirement was effective June 26, town officials said.
The Arley Town Council made the decision at their Monday, July 13, meeting, to also relocate court from the town hall council room to the upstairs meeting room at the library. The relocation was due to overcrowding conditions at town hall on court days, town officials said.
After Kulbeth was moved to her new office at the library, the police department moved from their upstairs offices at town hall to the downstairs office where Kulbeth had worked as court clerk just behind the office of Town Clerk Tammi Farley.
“I think it has worked out really well because Dana is already familiar with the library, so we didn’t have to have another new hire, another training, another transition,” Farley pointed out.
