HALEYVILLE - Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri and the council learned the results of the 2017 audit during the council's Monday, July 16, meeting, and the results were positive.
Auditor Dicky Sparks noted that the city did very well on the audit, thanking Acting City Clerk Christy Harbin and her staff for all the assistance provided. The city is in great financial shape, the audit detailed, a net worth of almost $11 million, and net revenues exceeding net expenses.
In other business, the application for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the State of Alabama CDBG Program was approved for submission. The proposed project would include water and sewer improvements along 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Avenues, 22nd and 24th Streets and McNutt Drive at a cost of almost $1 million. The grant would be for $450,000, with the city and the Haleyville Water and Sewer Board jointly providing matching funds totaling $485,389.01.
