DOUBLE SPRINGS - Ethan Moore, a senior at Winston County High School, has been named a state finalist for the Wendy's® High School Heisman award, an annual scholarship competition. Moore is also the school winner for Winston County High School.
The Wendy's High School Heisman Award was created in 1994 in conjunction with the Hesiman Trophy Trust to honor student-athletes from across the nation. Students must be seniors in high school, have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or better, participate in at least one of 47 recognized sports and be a leader in his or her community.
Moore is in the running with students across the state to be Alabama's representative for the national award. The state Wendy's Heisman winner will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and will receive a $500 college scholarship. National finalists are announced on Nov. 8, and receive $1,000 college scholarships, and the male and female national winners are announced Nov. 9. Each national winner will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and a trip to New York City to attend the Heisman Trophy Trusts's presentation of the annual college Heisman award on Saturday, Dec. 8.
John Naylor, a senior at Addison High School, and Caleb Aaron, a senior at Meek High School, were also named their respective schools' Wendy's Heisman school winners.
