WINSTON COUNTY - The largest single mass casualty incident in Winston County has resulted in a special award.
County and area emergency responders have received this award for the cooperation and unity they displayed working with the 12 persons critically injured when a bus transporting UAB medical staff crashed into a rock and a tree in the Houston area Sept. 7.
A special award presented to emergency responder units in Winston County is a first in multiple ways. It is the first time the award, presented by Birmingham Regional Emergency Medical Services, has been given to a group, and it also recognizes efforts undertaken during Winston County’s single largest casualty incident.
