Lynn defeats WCHS to start journey to championship

LYNN - The Lynn Bears made it a three-peat Monday, April 15, as Winston County baseball champions. They started their journey with a defeat of Winston County High School, in the county tournament that was hosted by Lynn High School, in a 13-5 victory.
Winston County fired up the offense in the first inning., with  Austin Owens driving in a run on a single.

The Bears pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Chance Majors singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run and Chase Hokett singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
LHS notched five runs in the fourth inning.  Their bats were led by Bryant Norris, Hokett, Dalton Gilbert, Logan Kelly and Riley Humphres, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Majors was the winning pitcher for Lynn. He allowed eight hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five. Lance Harris threw two innings in relief.

Ethan Moore started the game for Winston County. He went four innings, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits, striking out six and walking one. William Holt threw two innings.
Majors smacked one home run on the day for the Bears in the first inning. Lynn tallied 13 hits. Majors, Kelly, Gilbert and Hokett all had multiple hits. Majors went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits.

Winston County totaled 11 hits in the game. Moore, Owens, and Holt each managed multiple hits.
