The Haleyville Lions junior varsity baseball team's effort to come back from down seven runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 9-8 to Russellville on Tuesday, April 16. The Lions JV scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a, a double by Hayden Tidwell, a triple by Hayden Armstrong, and a error.
Despite the loss, Haleyville did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Russellville had seven hits on the way to victory.
Russellville scored five runs in the second inning.
Armstrong took the loss for Haleyville. He surrendered one run on zero hits over one-third of an inning, walking zero.
Russellville allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, walking zero.
Camden Smith started the game for Haleyville. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out one
Haleyville racked up eight hits on the day. Armstrong, Gavin West, and Tidwell each managed multiple hits for Haleyville Lions JV. Tidwell, West, and Armstrong each collected two hits.
