Haleyville Lions out hit Brooks, but can’t find enough runs in loss

HALEYVILLE - Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday, May 3, but Brooks was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a 2-1 victory over Haleyville in the third round of the baseball state playoffs.
Played at Haleyville, Ben Lowman started the game for Haleyville and recorded 21 outs, pitching a terrific game. HHS lost despite out-hitting Brooks six to two.
Thorne Tapp earned the win for Brooks. He allowed six hits and one run over six innings. Luke Spurgeon threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Spurgeon recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Brooks.
Lowman took the loss for the Lions. He allowed two hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero. Blake Bennett, John Miller Lawson, Jackson Kennedy, Mason Lambert, Abraham Marchant, and Scott McAlpine each collected one hit.
Brooks didn't commit a single error in the field. Carson Daniel had the most chances in the field with seven.
