HALEYVILLE - Haleyville Lions watched the second game game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-2 loss to Brooks on Friday, May 3, played at HHS.
Brooks scored on a double by Brett Urban in the first inning, a single by Carson Villalta in the first inning, a passed ball during Trey Patterson's at bat in the first inning, a double by Carson Daniel in the first inning, a double by Kole Warden in the first inning, and a sacrifice fly by Villalta in the second inning.
Brooks got on the board in the first inning. Urban drove in one when he doubled.
Villalta earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Brooks. He went five innings, allowing two runs on zero hits and striking out ten. Preston Junkin threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
John Whiteside took the loss for Haleyville. He surrendered five runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning, walking one. Ben Lowman led HHS, with one hit in two at bats.
Villalta went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Brooks in hits.
