DOUBLE SPRINGS - Brian Wakefield, a 2003 graduate of Haleyville High School, is now the assistant principal at Winston County High School. In addition to that title, he will also be the assistant football coach and head varsity softball coach. He has replaced Jarad Smith, who had a one-year contract, in softball and Kelly Rushing in the other titles.
Wakefield will come as a relief to Principal Jeff Cole and will balance the many duties required of Cole.
“I’m real excited to have Brian,” Cole said. “He is a very hard-working young man and very intelligent in everything he does. I like his theories on what he does in coaching. He does the same thing in life and with all the kids who walk up and down the hallway. I feel very fortunate he has the opportunity to work with us.”
