Edith Dorothy Hammack, 68, of Houston, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.
Edith was born on July 5, 1950 in Hartselle. She was a member of Houston Church of God for 20 years. Edith attended Speake High School and Winston County High School and enjoyed gardening and working outside.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Houston Church of God, where her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Pastor Buford Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Houston Community Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, George Donald Hammack; sons, Bobby Jack Jefferies, George Donald Hammack II and Brian Dewayne Hammack and wife Tonya and brothers, Fred Guthries, William Gutheries and Mack Gutheries. She was grandma to 6 grandchildren, Taylor Jefferies, Faith Jefferies, Lilly Hammack, Mary Miner, Savanah Dehaan and Lisa Kimmerly;and 1 great-grandchild, Lilliean McLellan. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenell and Buren Gutheries and her brother, Roy Gutheries.
