Not only did staff from the elementary school participate in the race but they also manned a cooling station across from Barry’s Carpet, where they gave out water, Gatorade and snacks to race participants.

The Mark Forester Race is held each year in honor and tribute of fallen Airman Mark Forester of Haleyville, who died while defending his country in Afghanistan in 2010.

Two elementary teachers were recognized as winners of door prizes during the race activities.
