Firefighters brave intense daytime temperatures to fight the second fire at a vacant structure within 24 hours.
HALEYVILLE - Less than 24 hours after at least 10 fire department responded to a massive blaze consuming the vacant building once used as Boshell Chiropractic Clinic and Reece Realty on Highway 13, firemen were dispatched to another vacant structure, finding it engulfed in flames Monday, Sept. 9.
Firefighters rolled to the scene at 6th Street and 7th Avenue about mid-afternoon, finding the old vacant wood frame house blazing. Firefighters, as they did on Sunday, Sept. 8, braved the blazing hot outdoor temperatures that were soaring in the 90s, wearing heavy turnout gear to fight the blaze. The blaze was beat down, but the structure was leveled to rubble.
Firefighters returned to the scene of the blaze early Tuesday morning when the fire rekindled.
The cause of both blazes has not been determined.
