Deshler wins in extra inning over Haleyville

HALEYVILLE - Haleyville Lions stayed in it until the end, but Deshler pulled away late in a 4-3 victory on Saturday, Feb. 22. The game was tied at three, with Deshler batting in the top of the eighth when Brayden Buckner hit a solo homer.
Haleyville lost despite out-hitting Deshler seven to four.
Deshler opened up scoring in the second inning, when Logan James reached on a dropped third strike.
The Lions evened things up at three in the bottom of the seventh inning on an error that scored one run for Haleyville.
Cody Collinsworth earned the win for Deshler. He surrendered one run on one hit over two innings, striking out two. James threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. James recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Deshler.
Morgan Long took the loss for Haleyville. He surrendered one run on two hits over two innings, striking out three and walking one.
Brantson Lambert started the game for Haleyville. He surrendered three runs on two hits over six innings, striking out eight. Nick Whitten started the game for Deshler. He allowed five hits and two runs over five innings
John Whiteside went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Lions in hits.
