DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Lynn Bears heated up their bats Thursday, Feb. 27, defeating the Winston County Yellow Jackets in Double Springs. The Bears won by a score of 19-6.
The Bears took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, with Brandon Hill, Cade Tittle and Chance Majors scoring.
In the top of the second inning, Hill doubled to score John Bryan, making it 4-0.
Lance Harris started the third inning at the plate for LHS with a double. Dalton Gilbert belted another double, moving Harris to third base. John Humphres hit a double to left, with John Linley coming in as a courtesy runner. Humphres’ double scored Harris and Gilbert, stretching the Bears lead to 6-0. Logan Kelly was hit by a pitch and took first base, with Linley stealing third and home. Bryan walked on the next at-bat, with Kelly stealing third. Marcus Meeks was walked, with Kelly scoring.
Hanson Walker came in at pitcher for the Jackets at this point, with LHS leading 8-0. Bryan scored from third to make the score 9-0. Walker got the three outs needed to end the inning.
The Yellow Jackets put their first run on the board in the bottom of the third. Allen Abbott got a single to start it off. Ryker Morgan and Austin Owens walked to load the bases. Abbott was able to score on a wild pitch
Eli Edgil singled to centerfield to score Morgan and Owens, making the score 9-3. Jacob Hill’s single advanced Edgil to third, where he scored on a hit by pitch on the next batter. The Jackets went into the next inning trailing 9-4. The Jackets scored one run in the bottom of the fourth by Morgan from second off a single by Owens.
The Bears put two more runs on the board in the top of the fifth and eight in the seventh to take a 19-6 win over Winston County.
