WINSTON COUNTY - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the following recommendations have been enacted by Nichols and Pinkard funeral homes, after receiving guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Alabama Department of Public Health.
Per the guidelines issued by the President of the United States on March 16, and the CDC recommended practices, both Nichols and Pinkard funeral homes have enacted the following regulations:
- Graveside and outdoor services with family and friends are encouraged. No more than 25 people should meet at the cemetery.
- It is strongly suggested that children under the age of 12 and adults over the age of 60 or anyone with a compromised immune system not attend.
- Both Nichols and Pinkard will only be holding two services per day per location - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
If you have business that can be conducted over the phone, please call the funeral home instead of stopping by the office.
These guidelines will allow staff more time to clean and disinfect their facilities, to serve the needs of their families and to protect the community and their staff members.
"We will continue to monitor COVID-19 and how best to serve our families during this time. These guidelines will be subject to change, according to CDC recommendations," both Joseph Martin, owner of Nichols Funeral Homes, and Tim Pinkard, owner of Pinkard Funeral Homes, said.
