Projects being considered by the Winston County Commission using funds from the Secure Rural School and Community Self Determination Act to promote the Firewise USA program that encourages local solutions for safety by encouraging citizens and youth to take individual responsibility to prepare for the risk of wildfire. Promotes Firewise concepts into outdoor based activities on public lands. The Firewise program focuses on the importance of our natural resources and conserving our forest resources.
$30,000.00 for equipment, training cost and construction of space to house said equipment and supplies for help in the response of emergencies on national forest land. All materials will be used to educate homeowners about Firewise principles related to the home ignition zone and fire resistant building materials.
