Carl Elliott Regional Library System to begin issuing library cards over the phone

WINSTON COUNTY - Public libraries may be closed across the county, but that doesn't mean residents must give up reading items from the libraries.

The Carl Elliott Regional Library system - which includes the Haleyville, Arley and Double Springs Public Libraries - has announced that it will begin issuing library cards over the telephone to patrons who live within Walker and Winston counties.  These cards will be active until June 1, 2020.

According to Haleyville librarian Carla Waldrep, a library card provides access to Carl Elliott's online databases and LIBBY, an app which allows access to free online Ebooks, audio books and magazines for all ages.

To learn more, call the Haleyville Public Library at (205) 486-7450; the Arley Public Library at (205) 387-0129 or the Double Springs Public Library at (205) 489-2412.
