Motorcycle rider injured in collision

HALEYVILLE - A 57-year-old Haleyville woman was injured in an accident involving the 2002 Honda Shadow 750 motorcycle on which she was riding and a 2011 Ford Explorer Tuesday afternoon, May 12.

Connie Jones, passenger on the motorcycle driven by  Wendell Bailey, 58, also of Haleyville, was transported from the scene by Regional Paramedical Service ambulance, after she was tended to on the scene by medics from RPS.

Bailey and Jones were on the motorcycle traveling east on Highway 195 and had stopped to turn  into the parking area of Hometown Pawn, when the accident occurred with the SUV, driven by Maria G. Rivera, 36, who was also traveling east, witnesses on the scene said.

The crash caused the motorcycle to turn over, with Bailey able to climb off, but Jones was injured and was assisted off the highway by Bailey to a grassy area until medics arrived.

Also responding to investigate the scene was the Haleyville Police Department. Police blocked one lane of traffic at the accident scene.
